Self-Observation: Self Judgement

Self awareness activities are to help us each understand how we are. These could be our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and reactions. These help us better understand the unigue ways that we are consciously and unconsciously showing up (at our best and when stressed). Self awareness and self observations are crucial to gain self knowledge about what is our framework we are living our lives, how we are getting in our own way with those habits we which we didn't always engage with.

[Self-Awareness] Self-Judgement

Invent, by declaration, an internal separation in yourself. Be like a scientist who is observing yourself, one that acts/reacts in life, and one who observes (the curious observant scientist observing oneself).

Using the questions below, begin to observe yourself in life. Observe quietly, passively. Observe your internal states as well as what you show the world.

And the end of each day, scan through your day and note what happened and how you reacted. You may want to write notes so you can begin to notice patterns.

At first, stop 3 times each day and answer the following questions. You may wish to write down your answers so you can begin to notice patterns.

Later, move toward observing yourself in the moment of action, thought, feeling.

Time Required:

10 minutes daily for three weeks.

During this period of time... Observe:

  1. What assessments or assumptions did you make of yourself?
  2. What judgements did you make about others?
  3. What events, circumstances, or relationships are associated with these assessments, assumptions, or judgements?
  4. What action will you take form what you have observed in this exercise?
